What if your prescription is outside a published range?
Start with the named provider and exact frame. An outside-range result describes that recorded route; it does not establish whether another provider can help.
Compiled by Sam, Swansea Digital. This guide explains the checker and questions to ask; it is not optical advice.
Check what the result actually says
- Outside published range
- A recorded restriction was exceeded. Read the explanation and source for that route.
- Confirmation needed
- Information needed for the check is missing. This is not evidence that the provider cannot supply lenses.
- No route in your country
- The dataset has no applicable route for the selected country. A route available abroad is not automatically available locally.
Questions to ask a provider
- Do you support this exact model, generation and frame variant?
- Can you assess my full prescription and required lens type?
- Do I need an in-person appointment or additional fitting measurements?
- Is the route a replacement lens, an insert or a factory order?
- What is the complete price, including lenses, fitting and delivery?
- What are the lead time, returns conditions and warranty implications?
Share prescription details directly with the provider using its preferred secure process. You do not need to send them to Smart Specs Check.
Compare routes before buying a frame
Use the model guides to find named sources. Ask the provider to confirm the order before buying a frame in anticipation of reglazing. Some products have prescription requirements tied to their display or original manufacturing process.

How the information is maintained
We show route-specific sources and dates, and separate missing information from published restrictions. Read our methodology.
