Use the numbers labelled SPH, CYL and AXIS for each eye. Keep the plus or minus sign. For example, SPH −2.00 and CYL −0.50 go in separate fields. Enter 0.00 for a sphere labelled plano; leave cylinder blank only when your card has none. Do not substitute ADD for your distance SPH. If the labels are unclear, ask the practice that issued the prescription.

Country and intended use

Device requirements are separate from prescription results. Only models with researched device requirements can identify a connection route; other models need confirmation. Your choices put relevant connections first.

How the result is worked out

  1. Normalise. A plus-cylinder card is transposed to minus-cylinder form (SPH + CYL, CYL sign flipped, axis rotated 90°). We show you the converted line.
  2. Apply the maker's own arithmetic. Meta, Snap and some lens partners publish a total power limit (SPH + CYL). Even, Viture, Halliday, Rokid and Solos publish SPH and CYL separately. The two are never compared across.
  3. Test every published route for your country: lenses glazed by the maker, an optician partner, a clip-in insert or a built-in dial. Each has its own limit, source link and verified date.
  4. Rank. If you select a use or source device, matching connection routes come first and known mismatches last. Prescription tiers remain separate. Within the maker's own range first, then partner, insert and dial routes, then "range not published", then outside the range. Sources older than 45 days are flagged; passing routes older than 90 days are labelled unverified.

This tool checks whether your prescription falls inside the range each manufacturer publishes. It is not optical advice and does not replace a dispensing optician. UK law requires that spectacles for anyone under 16, or anyone registered sight impaired or severely sight impaired, are dispensed by or under the supervision of a registered practitioner, and that prescriptions are less than two years old.

Common questions

Can you get smart glasses with prescription lenses?

Yes. Most models here publish at least one prescription route: lenses glazed by the maker, an optician partner, a clip-in insert or a built-in dial. Each route has its own limit and its own countries, so whether a model takes prescription lenses is never a single yes or no.

Which smart glasses work with astigmatism?

Astigmatism is the CYL line on your card. Some makers publish a separate cylinder limit; others add the cylinder to the sphere and test the total, which can put you outside a range your sphere alone would pass. A built-in dial adjusts sphere only and cannot correct astigmatism at all. What each maker publishes for astigmatism.

Can smart glasses have varifocal lenses?

Some can. Others are single vision only, and several offer varifocals through an optician partner rather than an online order, which changes both the price and the countries the route is available in. Varifocal support, model by model.

How strong a prescription do smart glasses take?

It depends on the model and the route. Where a maker publishes a total power limit, your cylinder is added to your sphere before the limit is tested, so the sphere you can actually wear is lower than the headline figure. Every published limit, strongest first.

Does this checker send my prescription anywhere?

No. The values you enter are compared against the published ranges inside your browser. There is no form submission, no request carrying the numbers, and no analytics on them. Only the dataset of published ranges is downloaded.

What does "total power" mean?

Total power is sphere plus cylinder in minus-cylinder form. Meta and some lens partners publish their limits this way, so -3.50 / -1.00 counts as -4.50 and is outside a -4.00 limit even though the sphere alone is inside it.

My prescription is written with a plus cylinder. Do I need to convert it?

No. The checker transposes a plus-cylinder prescription to minus-cylinder form before any comparison and shows you the converted line so you can confirm it matches your card.

Is this optical advice?

No. It reports whether your numbers fall inside or outside the range each manufacturer publishes, with the source and the date it was checked. A dispensing optician makes the final call.
